AllTrails will bring together case studies from their Public Lands Partners to have an open discussion about how they are working to mitigate these issues through their Public Lands program and contribute to improving the overall experience of visitors and staff.
Webinar Outline
With the rising number of visitors to national, state, and local lands and increased availability of information, managers of public lands continue to cite that third-party apps have led to:
- Overuse and overcrowding of popular trails
- Misuse of the lands (e.g. dogs where dogs aren’t allowed, biking, etc…)
- Unsafe usage
- Following trails that “aren’t managed” or are “dangerous for the average hiker”
- Conflict between visitors and on-the-ground staff when the visitor has inaccurate or outdated information.
Third-party apps must contribute to the safety, preservation, and improvement of the visitor experience and preserve access. In this session, AllTrails will bring together case studies from their Public Lands Partners to have an open discussion about how they are working to mitigate these issues through their Public Lands program and contribute to improving the overall experience of visitors and staff.
