Communicate, Educate, and Inform Where Visitors are Planning Their Adventures

Virtual Training

Webinar Project & Crew Management Program Administration and Leadership

AllTrails will bring together case studies from their Public Lands Partners to have an open discussion about how they are working to mitigate these issues through their Public Lands program and contribute to improving the overall experience of visitors and staff.

Webinar Outline

With the rising number of visitors to national, state, and local lands and increased availability of information, managers of public lands continue to cite that third-party apps have led to:

  • Overuse and overcrowding of popular trails
  • Misuse of the lands (e.g. dogs where dogs aren’t allowed, biking, etc…)
  • Unsafe usage
  • Following trails that “aren’t managed” or are “dangerous for the average hiker”
  • Conflict between visitors and on-the-ground staff when the visitor has inaccurate or outdated information.

Third-party apps must contribute to the safety, preservation, and improvement of the visitor experience and preserve access. In this session, AllTrails will bring together case studies from their Public Lands Partners to have an open discussion about how they are working to mitigate these issues through their Public Lands program and contribute to improving the overall experience of visitors and staff.

Learning Objectives:

AllTrails understands its users' impact on our trail systems and the responsibility of helping mitigate issues for continued land stewardship while providing a tool for more people to find joy outdoors. Through this presentation, we hope our attendees will:

  • See how a private business can help public and nonprofit organizations fulfill their missions to provide a safe and impactful outdoor experience;
  • Discover how AllTrails is helping to improve accessibility to the outdoors by democratizing access to the outdoors and helping new hikers explore responsibly and feel prepared, safe, and included;
  • Learn about the AllTrails Public Lands program and work with us to help keep people safe and protect their lands.
