Virtual Training

Project Planning and Design

This webinar will highlight the six actionable strategies for building trail networks that are especially relevant to Main Street programs, as noted in Rails-to-Trails Conservancy’s TrailNation™ Playbook.

Webinar Outline

Trail networks have a proven transformative impact on America’s communities. When trails are connected, they create healthy, thriving communities by delivering economic opportunities, safe transportation options, environmental resiliency, and quality-of-life benefits for everyone. Rails-to-Trails Conservancy’s TrailNation™ Playbook offers practitioners the tools and resources to stimulate trail network development nationwide. This session will highlight the six actionable strategies for building trail networks that are especially relevant to Main Street programs, as told by the practitioners themselves. We will be joined by leaders who have seen the impact power of trail networks in their own Main Street communities and share their success stories. Participants will leave the session with the knowledge and know-how to access the benefits of creating safe, accessible, and connected places for their communities to walk and bike.

Learning Objectives:

  • Participants will gain tools and understanding of strategies essential to the success of developing trail networks
  • Participants will learn how to use quantitative data, spatial mapping, and robust engagement plans to help communities build political will and prioritize public investment for infrastructure
  • This session will generate ideas for inspiring community on trails through inclusive trail practices in participant’s communities.
