The Arthur Carhart National Wilderness Training Center is offering a webinar: Crawford Path: A Sustainable Trails Case Study

Crawford Path is the oldest continuously maintained foot path in the US for recreational use. Established in 1819 to lead people to the top of Mount Washington, New Hampshire it has faced many challenges. Changes and challenges faced include changing land ownership, partial Appalachian Trail designation, sharing a boundary of the Presidential – Dry River Wilderness, rare plant habitat, heavy use, extreme and changing weather patterns, and lacking funding for maintenance. Crawford Path’s bicentennial celebration also presented opportunities to raise awareness and bring trail maintainers together for some new, innovative approaches for more sustainable future on trails. Join us to take home some important ideas for sustainable trails!
