Are you passionate about trail building and maintenance? Are you interested in developing your leadership skills in leading a crew to complete important stewardship projects? If you are affiliated with an agency, organization, staff member, volunteer or an individual interested in making a difference in the recreational trail world, then these classes are for you! These online training events are perfect for outdoor enthusiasts looking to enhance their skills and make a positive impact on trails.
Chinook Associates is excited to offer this series of virtual Trail Crew Leader Workshops. These classes focus on the “Soft Skills” required to effectively lead a team to accomplish a trail task. There are five one-hour classes and the class size is limited to 15 students. The workshops are led by an experienced trail professional and the students should expect an interactive discussion.
Trainees will be introduced to Tuckman’s Model of Group Development (Forming, Storming, Norming, Performing and Adjourning) and behaviors the crew leader can display that support the team going through each stage. Participants will discuss how to assess crew members as it relates to their individual skills, performance and safety.
