Trail Sector Research with Trans Canada Trail

Recorded Training

Webinar Project Planning and Design

The webinar will highlight the Trans Canada Trail (TCT)/American Trails trail sector survey, and previous research done, as well as the initiatives TCT has undertaken at the nationwide scale.

Webinar Outline

This webinar will be an introduction to the Trans Canada Trail and the initiatives they’ve undertaken at the nationwide scale. It will highlight in-depth research including the Trans Canada Trail/American Trails trail sector survey, coming in February. We will explore resources, programs, and tools that support trail partners across North America.

Trans Canada Trail (TCT) is the world’s longest network of recreational multi-use trails, encompassing hundreds of local Trail sections from coast to coast to coast. We work to maintain, protect and increase the number of designated greenway sections on the TCT, and offer unique opportunities to get outdoors, explore major cities and small towns, experience our ever-changing landscapes, and discover Canada’s rich history and diverse cultures and communities in all seasons.

TCT is excited to be partnering with American Trails (AT) in early 2024 on great initiatives like webinars, the North American Trail Sector Survey, and more!

KEEP AN EYE OUT! On February 1, TCT and AT will be sending out a survey to capture the state of the trail sector across North America (NA), open to those working directly in the trail sector. This includes those in governments of varying levels, trail associations or other organizations who work on/ with trails, their staff and volunteer bases. The results will build an understanding of the trail sector and assist in making evidence-based decisions on the development of new assets including educational resources and tools to better support trails and funding opportunities.

Like Trans Canada Trails previous surveys, it will capture information on:

  • Organizational capacity
  • Employment and volunteers
  • State of trail Infrastructure
  • Financial capacity and challenges
  • Information on equity and inclusion
  • Climate change and conservation

SAVE THE DATE! Mark February 1 on your calendars or let TCT know you’d like a calendar invite sent to you as a reminder by filling out this form.
