Recorded Training

Webinar Trail Construction

This session explores the full lifecycle of trail crossings— from planning and design through on-the-ground construction.

From simple puncheons to complex engineered crossings, bridges and boardwalks play a critical role in creating safe, sustainable, and accessible trail experiences. This session explores the full lifecycle of these structures— from planning and design through on-the-ground construction. Aaron will examine different trail and structure types, site considerations, and material options, while exploring how to balance function, aesthetics, and environmental impact. Real-world examples and technical guidance will highlight how to adapt construction techniques to terrain, climate, and use types.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify appropriate bridge and boardwalk types based on type of trail, site conditions, and user needs.
  • Apply best practices for planning, material selection, and foundation design to ensure structural integrity and longevity.
