Be a rock star! Help restore a Quincy icon! Take a Trail Building course with Feather River College and be part of rebuilding the stone stairs up to Argentine Rock Fire Lookout.
This course meets virtually 6pm-9pm PST on October 3rd and in person at Argentine Rock Fire Lookout in Quincy, California from 11am to 5pm on October 6 and 8am to 5pm on October 7 & 8.
We will be going from the basics of hand tool safety through the full process of quarrying native stone onsite and building stone stairs. This is a hands-on experiential learning opportunity. No experience necessary.
This course and project are a partnership between the US Forest Service, Feather River College's Outdoor Recreation Leadership Department, and Forest Fire Lookout Association's Argentine Rock Forest Fire Lookout Repair Group.

Ama has over 18 years of professional experience building, maintaining, and designing trails. She has led trail crews, taught trail skills workshops, and managed complex trail projects in both Wilderness and frontcountry settings. Working on trails in over 18 different states across the country, Ama has experience with a wide variety of soil types, climates, and user groups. Ama loves finding new ways to share her passion for trails while fostering a greater understanding of what makes a trail sustainable through education and application.
