Join NYNJTC and The Pinelands Alliance in this virtual workshop and learn about completing Nature Site Accessiblity Surveys and developing inclusive programs.
There is currently very little guidance available for nature sites and their respective staff and volunteer corp on how to assess a property, facility, trails and features for accessibility and inclusion for visitors with a disability. Due to the lack of familiarity and training, we are offering this free Nature Accessible for All: Nature Site Accessibility and Inclusivity site assessment workshop
The workshop is to give a beginner’s course on resources, terminology and of understanding and identifying what requirements and considerations are needed to identify an outdoor space as an accessible space. The workshop’s goal is to train people to complete the Pinelands Alliance’s site assessments and submit those assessments for inclusion in the online map. We will dive into completing a site assessment with an eye toward accessibility considerations. Everyone attending should leave at the end of the day knowing how to submit assessments.
