AMC Wilderness Values and Crosscut Training

Gorham, New Hampshire

Multi-day Course

Join two guest instructors, Scotty Bowman and Nick Anderson, from S.A.W.S (Southern Appalachian Wilderness Stewards) for this in-depth training on Wilderness values with the option for crosscut saw certification.

The classroom sessions on days 1 and 2 (July 11 and 12) will introduce the history of Federally-designated Wilderness, intrinsic vs. extrinsic values, and traditional tools used in maintaining Wilderness trails. The classroom session will also provide the required content for those interested in the additional two days in the field for crosscut saw certification.

Days 3 and 4 (July 13 and 14) will be the field session for crosscut saw certification, including a day of skills practice and an evaluation day.

The crosscut saw certification cohort is limited to 10 participants, but additional participants who are not interested in the certification are welcome to attend the first two classroom days.
