The speakers represent the critical stakeholders that should be involved in any aMTB trail project— trail manager, aMTB users, aMTB programs, and trail builder.

In this webinar, leaders from The Vermont Mountain Bike Association, Vermont Adaptive Ski & Sports, The Kelly Brush Foundation, and L&D Trailworks will walk through the latest guidance for planning, designing, building, and retrofitting adaptive mountain bike trails, with a specific focus on nonmotorized, natural-surface trails. The speakers represent the critical stakeholders that should be involved in any aMTB trail project—  trail manager, aMTB users, aMTB programs, and trail builder - and will collectively present critical principles and practices to follow when developing adaptive mountain bike trails.

  • Understand the basics of aMTB equipment and users
  • Become familiar the six major design principles for adaptive trails
  • Identify unique requirements for adaptive trails to be safe and enjoyable
  • Understand the distinction between adaptive-friendly and adaptive-optimized trails
  • Learn how to avoid costly mistakes in aMTB trail building
  • Understand the approach and rationale for modifying existing trails to accommodate adaptive equipment, and become familiar with specific trail-based adaptive upgrades
  • Understand that making trails adaptive-friendly starts at the trailhead

Learning credits are available. The length of the session will determine the number of hours/credits given. In order to obtain credits, attendees must fill out an evaluation survey for each session they attend, as well as complete a learning credit tracking form noting each session they are requesting credits for (or a quiz if virtual). This form (and complete instructions) will be available during the live webinar or at registration when you check in for in-person events.
