Turtletown Creek Falls Trail

2024 Ocoee Ranger District, TN

Role: Crew Lead

In 2024, our crew worked on the Ocoee District of the Cherokee National Forest maintaining Turtletown Creek Falls Trail (FST #185). We performed work across eleven, 8-day hitches from June to November, focused on relocating a section of unsustainable, heavily eroded trail near Turtletown Falls. Most of the work consisted of heavy rigging with a highline system and extensive rock work. In total, our crew constructed 242.5ft² of rock retaining wall, 996ft² of junk wall, installed 40 rock stairs, cleared brush from 3.6mi of trail, cut 965ft of new trail, maintained 35ft of trail, removed 73 trees, and removed 5lbs of trash.
