Sand Trail

2022 Chugach National Forest

Role: Crew Leader

The Sand Trail is an ATV trail along the Scott River leading to the Scott Glacier. It is primarily used by OHV riders to access the glacier and hunt moose in the season. Erosion caused by the river had washed away portions of the riverbank that supported the tread of the trail. The primary objectives for the Sand Trail Crew were to brush the trail, to cut reroutes through the alders, on the off-riverbank side of the trail, to move traffic away from the progressively dangerous washouts along the trail.
