Mount Zion

2024 Golden, CO

Role: Business Unit Leader/Project Manager

This project, conducted between February and May 2024 for Jefferson County in Golden, Colorado, focused on constructing a hiking trail on steep terrain. Managed by Colton Emick and completed ahead of schedule, the project began with an original bid of $497,873.00 and concluded with a Final amount of $548,137.70.
The Mount Zion trail, spanning 2,500 linear feet, features a 10-foot wide imported rock staircase made of Cottonwood nine-inch slab stones sourced from Kansas. The trail, designed for hiking, navigates a steep fall line and old washed-out Jeep trail. Construction involved hauling stones up a 200-foot vertical hill and placing steps with a Kubota KX080 Engcon Wrist excavator. To address erosion, 90 cubic yards of all material were used to restore an eroded section.
Subcontracted tasks included stone hauling and stream work by LA Design. The project ensured environmental protections, including the careful restoration of the trail's eroded areas, and was completed with minimal impact on the surrounding ecosystem.
