Memorial Eastern Glades Timber Boardwalks

2020 Houston Texas

Memorial Park, located in the heart of Houston, Texas, stands as one of the largest urban parks in the United States. Spanning approximately 1,466 acres, this vast green space provides a serene escape from the bustling city life. Since its opening in 1924, Memorial Park has been a cherished destination for both locals and visitors, offering a diverse range of recreational activities amidst its lush landscapes. York Bridge Concepts proudly contributes to enhancing the park's natural charm through our innovative timber boardwalks and trails.

The Tear Drop & Lake View Boardwalks
The tear drop & lake view boardwalks at Memorial Park are a testament to our commitment to design excellence and environmental stewardship. These boardwalks are meticulously crafted to follow the natural curves of the lake, creating an elevated pathway that allows visitors to immerse themselves in the beauty of the park without disturbing its delicate ecosystem. The use of radius curves in the design enhances the aesthetic appeal and provides a unique perspective of the surrounding scenery.

Matchstick Boardwalks: A Journey Through the Forest
One of the standout features of this project is the matchstick boardwalks, designed to elevate the trailway through the forested areas of Memorial Park. These boardwalks offer a raised platform for visitors to explore the park's diverse flora and fauna up close. Walking along these elevated pathways, visitors can experience the tranquility of the forest while minimizing their impact on the natural environment below. The matchstick design not only provides a sturdy and safe walkway but also adds a rustic charm that complements the park's natural beauty.

The Central Connector
An additional feature that was added into a later phase of the project is the Memorial Park Connector. This elevated viewing platform allows visitors to take in the vistas of the natural wetlands that the park has to offer. The design ties in the continuation of the boardwalks and highlights this beautiful feature that the park offers. The Connector not only provides a safe and secure access to the wetlands but highlights YBC's expert craftsmanship.
