Along these trails, hikers were subjected to sections of trail with overly steep grades, long sections of mucky tread with no drainage solution, cobbled-together and degrading structures, overgrown brush, unstructured water crossings, and long stretches of tread that had become an erosive pathway for the high volumes of water that flow unchecked downhill during breakup and rainy season. This project included the addition of drainage structures, puncheon, turnpikes, causeways, and a 20'-span bridge on wooden cribbed abutments.
