Edgerton Trails Master Plan

2025 Edgerton, Kansas

Role: Planner/Designer

This study aims to provide Edgerton with a comprehensive
framework to increase walkability and enhance its bike friendliness
by connecting community members to local
destinations and recreational amenities. By enhancing
the trail network, the city can promote healthier lifestyles
and improve access to key areas. This plan assesses the
current sidewalks, trails, and bike routes to identify gaps,
gathers community feedback, and recommends targeted
interventions to address these gaps. The study area,
depicted in the map below, was developed based on area
of residential land use outlined in the Envision Edgerton:
2050 Comprehensive Plan.

The trails master plan recommends three types; Sidewalks
- focuses on Edgerton’s current sidewalk infrastructure
and closing existing gaps, Multi-use Paths - following
existing roads to provide direct access to points of
interest, nodes and greenways through out the study area
and Greenways - predominantly following streams and
riparian corridors, offering scenic and leisurely recreation
routes distinct from more utilitarian Multi-Use Paths.
