I served with AmeriCorps on trail crews of 3 years. I spent the second 2 years as a crew leader and gained experience training crew members and conducting trail maintenance and construction projects. In the fall of 2021, I began working for North Dakota Parks and Recreation as a Regional Trails Specialist and was soon transitioned to being the State Trails Coordinator. In this role, I have gained a substantial amount of training and experience in trail planning and design. As trails coordinator, my main job is to organize and coordinate necessary resources to complete large trail projects, volunteer trail-work events, and staff education within our organization. I also assist partner agencies and organizations with volunteer days and assessments. Our organization has recently started a motorized trail construction program, and I am working towards becoming a skilled operator/trail builder.
