I lead WVU's Sustainable Trails Curriculum, am a licensed landscape architect and Associate Professor with West Virginia University and am passionate about equity and access. With a degree in botany, trainings in stream restoration and prescribed fire management, I epitomize the "Jack (Jill) of all trades" landscape architect type, but I especially love the early visioning and strategy stages of projects and finding data to back decision making.

Experience Details:

Former trail maintenance crew member; licensed landscape architect and educator. I specialize in stormwater, native plants, and regional-scale (trail corridor) planning, but have professional experience and also teach design detailing (bridges, boardwalks, built features) for trails.

Experience Details:

Previous work experience with landscape management plans, and design / sizing of stormwater retention/detention is as natural as breathing to me after teaching it for 10 years! Experience on hand crews in back country with hand tools but not with mechanized equipment.

Experience Details:

Inclusivity and accessibility drive all the design I do - outdoors is for everyone! I have been heavily involved in stakeholder engagement and am often involved in several pro bono projects at once. One of my favorite things to do is tell cities what is possible - I've done this internationally (Tallinn, Estonia - Fulbright grant) and pro bono for small towns in West Virginia. Coming from landscape architecture practice has shaped my skills in defining projects and making sure designs meet multiple objectives.

I care a lot about accessibility and work universal access into many of my designs.
