Friends of the Breitenbush Cascades incorporated as an Oregon nonprofit in 1988, becoming a federal nonprofit in 2022.

Our geographic location is the Breitenbush watershed within the Detroit District, Willamette National Forest. We are located on the Breitenbush River and the headwaters begin in Mt Jefferson Wilderness Area.

Friends of the Breitenbush Cascades (FBC) mission as stated is:
a. Increase the public's understanding of the natural resources, scenic beauty, plant and animal diversity, and ecological integrity of the Breitenbush watershed.
b. Promote its sound management and conservation of its resources by government agencies;
c. Increase the government's responsiveness to the interests and needs of the public.
d. Recruit, train, and organize volunteers. Projects will consist of but not be limited to recreation, conservation, citizen science projects, and interpretive education.
e. Provide interpretive and educational opportunities regarding the cultural interactions throughout history of the springs and forests of Breitenbush.
