Thirty-eight years of experience in the US Forest Service in landscape architecture, recreation management, trails, volunteer program management, and leadership. Worked at all levels of the organization, from the field to the national headquarters, with responsibility for trails programs at the national forest, regional, and national levels. Achieved a solid foundation in trails through planning, design, layout, construction, and maintenance at the field level and translated that into overall program development and leadership in trails and volunteer management at the regional and national levels. Since retirement in 2017, I have served on the board of directors for Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado , a leading stewardship organization for 40 years, with an emphasis on trails maintenance and training. I also founded and lead a trails stewardship organization in my local community, training and directing a group of 24 volunteers in the maintenance and improvement of the community's trails. For the last five years, I have been responsible for annual training, planning, design, and layout of improvement projects, and system maintenance. I also have training and experience in the design of accessible trails.
