I have been teaching sustainable trail construction since 2010 as part of our Outdoor Education program here at Central Wyoming College. I manage a trail lab with 10 miles of both hiking and one-way bike only flow trails on our 130-acre residential facility, the Alpine Science Institute. In 2022, we received a large grant for the ASI Trail Lab and launched our 1-yr (30-credit) Trailbuilding Professional Certification program which includes hands-on building with mini-excavators, canycoms, and other heavy machinery as well as trail planning and design for everything from remote Wilderness trails to modern bikeparks.
