Jed Talbot is the owner of OBP Trailworks, LLC, a Maine based company that designs, builds, and consults on all types of pedestrian and motorized trails. Hallmarks of OBP include technical stone work, rustic timber joinery, naturalistic accessible trails and challenging backcountry rigging systems. Jed’s philosophy is one that synthesizes traditional historic practices with innovative modern tools and techniques. His passion for understanding and developing safe and creative practices is matched by his desire to teach and inspire others who want to pursue conservation based work. Jed has facilitated over 150 workshops on trail building techniques and conservation related skills to volunteer, municipal, federal, private, public, and non-profit crews across the country. He is a board member and Past President of the Professional Trail Builder Association and a board member of the World Trails Network, Hub of the Americas.

Jed and OBP Trailworks provides full-service design and planning services. Notable projects include the full design, specification, and construction oversight of over 90 miles (and counting) of remote hiking trails in five locations in Patagonia, including parking lots, signage, campgrounds, and human waste management systems. Jed has also designed and built well over a dozen accessible trails in the Maine and New Hampshire and consulted on many more. As a builder, he has field tested experience in cost estimation and implementation.
