SUMMARY
Dedicated laborer, technical draftsman and competent handyman with a background in heavy construction, landscaping, and backcountry hitches. Proven physical stamina (training and working in Texas heat) solo hitches and experience managing crews in high-stress environments. Transitioning into full-time trail conservation.
SKILLS & PHYSICAL STAMINA
• Physical Grit: Professional when working and constructing in the Texas heat with a positive no ego attitude. I’m comfortable hiking 50lb+ packs at high altitude in the backcountry. I’ve soloed Mt. Elbert, San Luis Peak, Mt. Wheeler, and Maroon Bells Four Pass Loop ; 5 year veteran of "The Forge" and team lead for 2 hitches, assisted in teaching land navigation, Leave-No-Trace behind and backcountry etiquette in the San Juans, Flat Top Mountains and Truchas Peak. (5-day backcountry expeditions via Atomic Athlete Austin TX).
• Heavy Timber Construction: My experience in building retaining walls and stairs using railroad ties, landscape timbers and vertical rebar anchoring in the Texas heat translates to the “Crush” factor needed for building in extreme environments.
• Mechanized Tool Operation: I’m proficient with hammer drills, come-alongs, chainsaws operation/maintenance,, and standard hand tools (Pulaskis, MacLeods, etc.) chain blocks and site-prep grading. From experience and the drive to get it done that day; I believe in my troubleshooting skills for tools like chainsaws, grinders etc . render useless; then it’s time to grab a hand tool and get after it.
• Drainage: I’m pretty good at laying out and installing French drains and innovative septic systems for county living or remote life. Similar physics to building a french drain or a rolling grade dips or water bars and rock check dams.
• Construction: I can dry stack masonry, stone steps, retaining walls, and drainage systems (French drains/grading).
• Technical: I can read USGS maps, construction drawings, and use land navigation (compass/grid/contours).
• Leadership: Owner of Handyman Construction with day laborers to lead and teach the trades, Former Stage Manager for SXSW volunteer base crews for heavy equipment on load in/out; helped lead backcountry groups with Atomic Athlete through the San Juan and Medicine Bow.
