This webinar is one part of a three part series:

In the Introduction to Trail Planning we will discuss different types of trail plans including Master Plans Conceptual Plans, Development Plans and Management Plans. Content will include a review of different elements to consider including in your plan. Methods for identifying stakeholders and engaging them in the planning process will be discussed. Alternatives for soliciting trail visitor feedback will be reviewed. Environmental considerations and landscape suitability for trail development will be discussed.

Kim Frederick, Principal

Kim Frederick has over 45 years of experience in the design, development and management of recreational trail systems throughout the United States and Internationally. In 1981, he started Chinook Associates LLC a Recreational Trail Consulting firm that provides support to agencies and organization in Trail: Planning, Design, Construction and Management. From 1978-2018 he worked for Jefferson County Open Space as the Trail Supervisor where he was responsible for the design, development and management of a 250-mile trail system that experiences over 5 million visitors per year. As a Founding Member and Board Chairperson for the Colorado Outdoor Training Initiative from 1998-2007 Kim created a successful partnership of over 40 Federal, State, Local Government and NGO's to develop and deliver stewardship curriculum throughout the United States. Since 2018, he has been an Adjunct Instructor at Red Rocks Community College.
