The Great Redwood Trail will be a 320-mile, world-class, multi-use rail-to-trail projectconnecting California's San Francisco and Humboldt Bays. The trail will be constructed alongthe former rail corridor of the North Coast Railroad Authority. The General Manager will leadthe newly created agency and help establish this world class rail trail.

Job Description
Serve as the General Manager of the Great Redwood Trail Agency (GRTA). The General Manager will overseeand manage day-to-day operations of the GRTA and assist with implementing the vision of the GreatRedwood Trail. The ideal candidate will have broad experience in all facets of small agency management,and a passion for solving problems and building a world class trail system.
The successful candidate must be able analyze and implementpolicy directives and to develop, oversee, and implementprojects and programs in a variety of areas. The GeneralManager will be a hands-on leader for this newly formedagency. It will be essential for the successful candidate to havethe capacity to pivot between operations, asset management,board support, and trail planning. A background in trail or parkmanagement is preferred. An administrative generalist is highlydesirable. As the agency’s leader, it will be of the utmostimportance to consistently practice fairness and equity in allactions and decisions. They will need to readily developcredibility by listening, building trust, and implementingfeedback to improve agency outcomes.
The General Manager may be located anywhere in the region ofthe Great Redwood Trail. The position will require attendanceat in person meetings throughout the region, from Humboldt toMarin Counties. The position will require some travel.
